Things at the top of the Premier League may be interesting after Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United, but the relegation fight remains just as compelling.
The defeat to Manchester City last Sunday leaves West Ham United propping up the Premier League table, but manager Avram Grant remains positive that his side can avoid the drop despite the Premier League relegation odds pricing West Ham at 1/4.
Grant has targeted seven points from the Hammers last three games and the Israeli believes that will be enough to save his side from playing Championship football next season.
Saturday’s home game with Blackburn Rovers is a huge tie for both clubs and a West Ham win, priced at 10/11, would drag Blackburn well and truly into the relegation battle – Blackburn are 7/2 to be relegated.
Following their home game with Blackburn, West Ham travel to the DW Stadium to face a Wigan Athletic side that have garnered momentum in this relegation race and this is shaping up to be a huge tie.
After that West Ham host Sunderland at Upton Park on the final day of the season and with Sunderland taking just four points from a possible 33 would leave West Ham fans confident of victory.
West Ham are more than capable of winning both of their home games which would leave Avram Grant’s side needing just a point from their tie with Wigan to meet the seven point target.
That would leave West Ham on 39 points for the season and with the relegation fight getting tighter and tighter, that points total should be enough to save West Ham for the drop.
Blackpool are currently the same price as Wet Ham to go down at 1/4 with Wigan available at 1/2 and Wolves priced at 4/6.
A £10 stake on Blackburn Rovers being relegated would return £45. Sign up here to take advantage of a free bet worth up to £30.
