This game can’t have come quickly enough for a Manchester United side looking to restore some pride following their 6-1 humiliation at the hands of Manchester City last Sunday.
Everton have had a difficult couple of weeks as well losing against City, Liverpool and Chelsea in the league.
However, United will face a tough task getting all three points – especially considering their poor record at Goodison Park over the past few years…
United head into this game as 4/5 favourites but have found the going tough at Goodison in recent seasons.
You have to go back to 2007 to find the last time Sir Alex Ferguson’s side got a victory away to the Toffees, with the last three games yielding a draw and two wins for Everton.
Last season saw United throw away a 3-1 lead in the final minutes to draw 3-3 and, with Everton staging another late show in their win against Fulham last week, backing the Toffees to get a win at 7/2 should not be discounted.
The United front line didn’t have a sniff against a rampant City last week but David Moyes’ men should be a little more generous.
Three of the previous four games between the sides have yielded at least three goals and, with United’s defence looking extremely shaky and Everton failing to keep a clean sheet since a 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers in August, there’s plenty to suggest there’ll be goals this time out.
Backing over 2.5 goals at 5/6 looks well worth a punt.
Finally, Javier Hernandez bagged the only goal against Everton in their last meeting and found the net against Liverpool from the subs bench a fortnight ago and could be worth a punt at 6/4 to score at any time.
