If Andre Villas-Boas wants to know why Tottenham fans are in such good voice on their travels, it is simple – they keep on winning, and Spurs look well overpriced to make their followers happy once again with yet another away-day victory at Everton.

AVB took the unusual step of criticising his home support after a laboured win over Hull, but for all their relative struggles at White Hart Lane, once they leave north London, Tottenham are a different proposition entirely and look too big to ignore at 15/8 to pick up three points at Goodison Park.

In fact, their only away defeat this term also came in north London against rivals Arsenal, which is the only blotch on an otherwise completely unblemished record: Tottenham have won seven of their eight away games in all competitions, and have kept seven clean sheets, conceded just one goal, to Olivier Giroud in that derby defeat.

It is a sensational record by any standards, enough to make you think they can edge a tight game against an Everton side that has adapted to well to life without David Moyes.

Everton are undoubtedly in good form having won five of the last six and will have their backers at 7/5 (the draw is 12/5) but I still think the Toffees are a work in progress under the impressive Roberto Martinez. The former Wigan boss has made the Blues easier on the eye, but it has been at the expense of defensive solidity: Everton have kept just one clean sheet in their last six games, and have let in 10 goals over that sequence.

And Spurs, with 17 goals on their travels in league and cup so far this season, can take advantage of that defensive sloppiness and use their own defensive nous – only Southampton have conceded fewer Premier League goals – to grab a vital win.
