Merseyside versus Manchester gets underway on Sunday at Goodison Park when Everton host Manchester City. With the race for the top-four remarkably close, Pep Guardiola can’t afford for his side to drop points.

But victory at Ronald Koeman’s Everton is far from certain.

The bookies have priced City up at 5/6, with the Toffees an appealing 7/2.

After losing eight times on home soil last season, Everton have tightened up since Koeman arrived, and only Liverpool have come away from Goodison with three points.

Plus, three of the last four league clashes between these two have ended all-square.

Plenty will fancy the draw then, at 11/4.

Guardiola might have the talents of Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne to call upon here, but Everton have conceded just seven goals on their home patch this season.

And with each of the last five league meetings seeing two goals or fewer, the Evens available on under 2.5 should prove popular, while both teams to score is 4/6.

Combine that with a draw, and 6/1 on 1-1 looks a great option, as does the Draw/Draw Half-Time/Full-Time at 9/2.

If you include the League Cup semi-final clashes last season, Everton have netted the first goal in three of the last four meetings, the fourth being 0-0.

So despite Aguero leading the first goalscorers at 3/1, Romelu Lukaku looks plenty of value at 11/2 to net the opener, as he did at the Etihad in October.

The race to claim a Champions League spot is set to come down to miniscule margins in May, and any dropped points here for the Citizens could prove expensive in a few months time.

Though the odds suggest Everton are very much the outsiders, City should exercise caution at what has become a very tight ship at Goodison Park.
