Manchester City to win the Premier League

His hometown club upset odds of 5000-1 to land last season’s title but the battle for the 2016-17 Premier League crown is set to be between the two sides from Manchester, according to Emile Heskey.

As a forward with over 500 Premier League appearances, the former Leicester and Liverpool striker certainly knows what he’s talking about.

And Heskey can see the managerial changes made in the north-west and elsewhere as having a significant impact on the destination of this season’s title.

Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes News at Ladbrokes’ launch as the official betting partner of the FA, Heskey gave us his views.

“Who wins it? It’s going to be really interesting,” the ex-England international said.

“You’ve got Pep coming in with one of the best squads at Man City, but are they going to understand how he wants them to play?,” Heskey added.

“It’s going to be really interesting to see how quickly the players can find that understanding with Guardiola, or will they simply hit the ground running?”

Ex-Footballer Emile Heskey talks at a Ladbrokes preview event for the upcoming season and charity shield match in London, England on August 03 2016.

Heskey is tipping the Premier League to be Manchester-bound this term

Heading to the other side of Manchester, Heskey added: “Then you’ve got Jose arriving at Old Trafford, who has done it time and time again with different clubs.

“He’s with a new team now and a new challenge but both he and United will be really going all out to stamp their authority this season.”

“I think it’s between those two this season. Chelsea are also dealing with a new manager this year, but I think it’s going to be a battle between the two Manchester teams.”

The bookies seem to agree with the man who won five trophies with Liverpool in 2001, as Man City occupy the favourites tag at 12/5.

United are second in the betting at 3/1, with Chelsea deemed the most likely non-Manchester winner at 11/2.
