Crystal Palace fans may wish to get some of those long awaited ‘Saturday jobs’ out of the way, rather than turn on their TV sets at lunchtime; this could get nasty.
Manager-less and on a run of five straight defeats in the Premier League, represents a far from ideal start for Palace back in the highest echelon of English football.
What the Eagles could really do with is a two-week international break just to give them time to get their house in order, after the resignation of their manager Ian Holloway.
Instead, they must entertain the rampant Premier League leaders Arsenal. And despite their Champions League wobble against Borussia Dortmund, taking the Gunners’ odds of 4/11 to win at Selhurst Park seems like printable money on those willing to go big.
Until the south London club can install a new manager, they remain vulnerable to similar maulings to those handed out by Liverpool and more recently Fulham.
There are not many more qualified to do this in the Premier League than Arsenal either.
If the visitors can beat Fulham and Sunderland 3-1 away from the Emirates, then it’s quite plausible they can do similar to a Palace side which have conceded just over two goals per-game in the league so far this season.
Arsenal to win and over 3.5 goals to be scored in the match at 19/10, therefore stands out as a pretty decent looking bet.
Meanwhile, the 1/1 on offer from Ladbrokes that Arsenal grab 2/3 goals south of the Thames takes on a gift-wrapped feeling, as does the 5/4 on the Gunners notching over 2.5 goals.
As for scorers, Arsenal’s strapping Frenchman, Olivier Giroud – who grabbed the goal in midweek – is probably due one in the Premier League after a four-game hiatus.
Giroud breaking the deadlock at 3/1 appears decent value.
