Crystal palace manager Alan Pardew is set to swoop on his old club this summer in a bid to lure Holland goalkeeper Tim Krul to Selhurst Park.

Pardew will go head-to-head with his Southampton counterpart Ronald Koeman, however, as Krul forms part of a rumoured four-pronged Dutch assault the Saints boss is planning.

Koeman is reportedly keen to take Krul, Newcastle team-mate Daryl Janmaat and Feyenoord stars Jordy Clasie and Tonny Vilhena to St Mary’s but Pardew hopes his existing relationship with the Magpies stopper will see Palace steal a march on the south coast club.

Both sides have been alerted to Krul’s apparent availability after the 27-year-old recently switched agents, seemingly in a bid to embark on a new challenge away from St James’ Park.

Krul’s career ambition are unlikely to be met with Newcastle in the near future and with the Mike Ashley-backed outfit paying the ‘keeper £28,000 per week Palace co-chairman Steve Parish feels an attractive deal can be put to the Dutchman.

Current Palace number one Julian Speroni has been a loyal servant to the club, first signing for the Eagles in 2004, but at 35 he is entering the twilight of his career and Pardew may want to move now while there is still a chance of landing the Newcastle player.

Next up for Palace is the visit of Steve Bruce’s Hull and while the Tigers face the distinct possibly of relegation Pardew is unlikely to offer sympathy with a win potentially lifting the hosts into the Premier League’s top 10.

The south Londoners have scored just five goals less than fifth-placed Liverpool this term but have conceded 45 and should Krul arrive in the summer a tilt at European football could well be in the offing.
