Leicester City stalwart Jeffrey Schlupp looks set to be Sam Allardyce’s first signing of his Crystal Palace reign, with the 24-year-old seemingly certain to confirm his move to Selhurst Park in the next couple of days.
Despite being a regular in the Foxes side who sensationally lifted the Premier League title last season, the Ghanaian international has made just one start in the top-flight this term, and hasn’t played a minute for the side since November.
But although he’s fallen out of favour with Claudio Ranieri, the versatile Schlupp – who can operate equally well at left-back and on the left-hand side of midfield – has no shortage of suitors.
Tireless, reliable and a genuine goal threat, it’s Palace who look sure to be the beneficiaries of the former Brentford loanee’s talents, with reports this morning that he has a medical lined up at Selhurst Park today.
West Bromwich Albion had previously been in the hunt for the player, with the Baggies currently using the ageing Chris Brunt as a makeshift full-back or relying on the inexperienced Brendan Galloway.
However, they’ve been forced to look elsewhere, with the Eagles willing to pay the requisite £12m Leicester are demanding for Schlupp’s signature, and the Hamburg native keen on a move to Selhurst Park.
Next up for Crystal Palace is a trip to West Ham United on Saturday, with Big Sam’s men 2/1 to enjoy victory on their first visit to London Stadium.
