Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the latest club linked to Gary Cahill and with Kyle Walker on their books, Harry Redknapp may be in the hotseat to sing the England international.

Bolton value their prized asset at £17m but with debts of around £90m, cash is no good to the Lancashire club as any money they receive through transfers, goes towards paying off the debt.

Owen Coyle has already admitted that he will struggle to keep hold of Cahill this summer, but the Scottish manager is prepared to hold out for the best possible deal and this would mean a cash plus player(s) deal.

Arsenal, who have long been admirers of Cahill, now find themselves in the worst possible position because they have very little to offer Bolton, unless Gael Clichy is prepared to pass up the opportunity to move abroad to move north.

Arsenal have fallen to the bottom of the list in terms of potential suitors for Cahill and that is something that will worry the Gunners faithful as Arsene Wenger continues to remains quiet in the transfer market.

Manchester City have the money available and they also have the likes of Wayne Bridge and Nedum Onuoha who could be used as potential makeweights in a deal for Cahill.

Tottenham have an incredible 16 defenders on their books following the release of Jonathan Woodgate, and Coyle will be eyeing up both Alan Hutton and England U21 right-back Kyle Walker if the London club want to do a deal.

With the current fees being negotiated for English players, Cahill’s signature is going to cost someone a pretty penny, especially with three clubs in the mix.

Bolton fans may be sad to see him go, but now looks the best time to cash in on English assets with this premium that is being paid and the Trotters fans should be hopeful that Coyle will do the best bit of business for the club.
