Both Arsenal and Man City recorded 3-0 wins over Welsh opposition in the Premier League and although it’s the Gunners who retain a six-point gap over City, the Londoners are 13/5, while Manuel Pellegrini’s side have nudged into 17/10 favourites – from 9/5.
However, sandwiched nicely inbetween the pair is Chelsea at 5/2, who came from behind to topple a Southampton side who have now slipped down to seventh having conceded three goals for the first time in the league this season .
This result confirmed Chelsea’s charge for the title is gathering pace and with Jose Mourinho in such familiar territory, the Blues’ odds of 5/2 out of this trio are the most tempting pick of the lot right now.
This case is further backed up when you look at Chelsea’s next three Premier League fixtures as they face 19th-place Sunderland, 16th-place Stoke before facing bottom side Crystal Palace.
If the Blues pick up maximum points then it seems pretty much assured their price will rocket in once more.
Although Arsenal continue to do the business, the market – much like most Match of the Day pundits – refuses to concede that Arsene Wenger’s stylish side have the necessary metal to be called title favourites.
Surely then, the time for those who do ‘believe’ this is Arsenal’s year should grab the marginal third-favourites for the title now, before everyone else wakes up and smells the coffee that Mesut Ozil and co are the real deal.
The general consensus, though, is that Pellegrini’s City side are just an away win or two from confirming they really are worthy title favourites and if this happens, we can expect further shrinkage in their price, no matter what Arsenal or Chelsea do.
