Chelsea could be about to bolster their defensive ranks with the signing of Southampton right-back Cedric Soares.
The Blues are short defensively and with Soares available for a cut-price £15m, a deal looks increasingly likely.
Stamford Bridge boss Antonio Conte is known to be an admirer of the Portuguese international, who has also attracted interest from Barcelona in the past.
However, the move will depend on the future of one of Southampton’s other defenders, Virgil van Dijk.
If the Dutchman’s proposed move to Liverpool can’t be resolved then the 1/2 on offer for Soares to go to West London looks to be a steal.
The 25-year-old featured 34 times for the Saints last season and also made three appearances for Portugal at the Confederations Cup.
He has gained plaudits for his attacking style of play and fits the way that Conte typically likes to set-up his sides.
And crucially, with only two years left on his contract, Southampton would be willing to listen to offers for a player they signed for just £4.7m in 2015.
