Chelsea have become the latest side to be linked with a move for the Italian goalkeeper touted as the next Gigi Buffon.
AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is already courted by Manchester United and Juventus, with the latter looking to replace 38-year-old Buffon in Turin.
The Italian is only 17, yet has already become the number one for i Rossoneri, making his debut last season, and can count two caps for the national side.
Starting every game for AC this season, Donnarumma’s has collected five clean sheets already – including against Juve – and his performances are continuing to gather attraction from rival clubs.
AC currently sit third in Serie A – their best run in years – but their success means they face a growing battle to keep hold of their star stopper.
Donnarumma’s current deal expires in 2018, but it’s believed AC are rapidly preparing a new contract in time for the 6ft 5in keeper’s 18th birthday in February.
However, Italian outlet Sport Mediaset have reported this week that Chelsea are willing to beat any offer than Milan put towards the teenager in a bit to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
It’s said Blues boss Antonio Conte has been impressed with the youngster’s potential and he could become the bedrock of a new era in west London.
but Manchester United – amid continued speculation that David de Gea will move to Real Madrid in the next 18 months – have also been tracking Donnarumma for some time.
The Red Devils have had to fight off numerous advances from the Spanish giants for De Gea, and it’s likely they’ll be powerless to stop him moving once Los Blancos’ transfer embargo is over.
