When Frank Lampard decided to join MLS outfit New York City FC this summer, there was every chance the club’s with a former Premier League rival of his would guide his future career path.

With Man City partly owning the new US side, the one-time Chelsea midfielder was always at risk of being shipped off to the Premier League champions on loan.

What would be Blues fans’ worst nightmare has become a reality, as Manuel Pellegrini confirmed that Lampard will join his 15/8 title co-favourites on a temporary basis until January, in preparation for the start of the new MLS season.

Following the revelation, Lampard is 10/1 with Ladbrokes to sign a permanent deal with Manchester City in winter transfer window.

The ex-Chelsea veteran is also 100/30 to start six or more league games for City before January and is 5/1 to score three or more goals for the current champions before the New Year.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “It’s impossible to rule out more twists in the career of Lampard.”

Lampard is 7/4 to leave City without adding to his Premier League goal scoring record.
