Chelsea are heading to Mexico to finalise a deal for Pachuca winger Jürgen Damm if the club’s vice-president Andres Fassi is to be believed.

Damm, who is a former Manchester United trialist, has caught the eye of Jose Mourinho’s scouts in recent months and the Blues are ready to finalise a deal to bring him to bring the South American youngster to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to the Mexican newspaper Mediotiempo, Fassi insisted that Mexican Championship runners-up Pachuca are desperate for the Mexican star to stay at the club.

Chelsea are the club interested, but we have to see how much they are interested, we can’t go ahead of ourselves, we have to wait and see,” Fassi said.

“When it comes to us, it’s a matter of sporting project. We want him to stay and we will see how much Chelsea are interested.

“There is a belief they arrive in Mexico on Thursday to talk with us,” he added.

Damm, a winger full of pace and trickery, impressed on a week-long trial at Manchester United just a year ago after being recommended by Eduardo Hernandez, the agent of striker Javier Hernandez, but returned to Mexico after administrative problems scuppered a dream move to Old Trafford.

The 21-year-old returned to Mexico before securing a transfer from second division side Estudiantes Tecos to the Tuzos.

But after a number of impressive displays in the Primera División he has been tipped to make a move to Europe and Chelsea could be ready to make that prediction come true this summer.

Chelsea finished third behind Liverpool and champions Manchester City in the Premier League last season but failed to pick up any silverware and Mourinho will be desperate to put that right this time around.

The west Londoners are 9/4 second favourites with Ladbrokes to win the title next season and while Damm may be seen as one for the future, his speed down the wing could be a valuable asset off the bench for Mourinho as he looks to steer Chelsea back to glory next season.
