Danny Welbeck fired England to glory in Switzerland last night and the new Arsenal man is being tipped to carry that form into the Premier League for the Gunners.

As part of its ongoing Breaking Bets series Ladbrokes has moved quickly to install Welbeck as a 12/1 shot to emulate his international success with Arsenal by scoring two or more against Manchester City this weekend.

Welbeck entered the England fold to replace the injured Daniel Sturridge and revelled in the central striker position alongside former Manchester United team-mate Wayne Rooney.

Arsenal’s new number 23 squandered a chance to put either Rooney or Raheem Sterling through in the first half but atoned for that mistake to fire England in front – albeit from his shin.

Gunners fans were treated to a far more composed finish for his second strike though as the 23-year-old raced on to a pass from substitute Rickie Lambert and lifted a composed finish over Yann Sommer to seal all three points.

The Emirates faithful will be hoping their deadline day arrival can pick up where he left off when the Gunners welcome City to north London on Saturday.

Welbeck has attracted criticism in the past for not scoring enough goals but the former Manchester United man now has 10  in just 28 for the Three Lions, managed a solid 13 strikes last season despite being used sparingly and often in a wide position and has a knack of scoring in big games.

City rarely concede two goals in a game – in fact they have only conceded two across their last six matches in the league – but man of the moment Welbeck is relishing his chance to be the main man and will be out to prove a point against the Sky Blues.

Nothing would make the Salford boy happier than a glittering debut for Arsenal while putting one over Manchester City and at 12/1 punters can get that winning feeling too!
