Queens Park Rangers’ top half aspirations were dealt a significant boost on transfer deadline day after Harry Redknapp did what he does best to bolster his squad.

Redknapp had already moved to add Rio Ferdinand, Steven Caulker, Jordan Mutch, Leroy Fer, Alex McCarthy and Mauricio Isla to his squad during the window but performed some customary late business to snap up Sandro from Tottenham and Niko Kranjcar from Dynamo Kiev.

The former arrives from Spurs to be reunited with the manager who brought him to England from Internacional and it is the arrival of the 25-year-old Brazil international that makes QPR the latest subject of Ladbrokes’ Breaking Bets series.

The presence of Sandro in front of a back four boosted by the experience of Ferdinand and hunger of Caulker should make the Hoops significantly harder to break down and as such the bookmaker has made a special price of 15/2 on a top half finish available.

Rangers could not have endured a worse start to their domestic campaign after losing three games on the bounce without scoring a goal.

Premier League defeats to Hull and Tottenham were followed by an embarrassing League Cup exit at the hands of Burton Albion but the Loftus Road outfit finally got off the mark last weekend with the Charlie Austin-inspired 1-0 victory over Sunderland.

Next up for the west Londoners is a trip to Old Trafford which looks significantly more daunting following the arrivals of Angel Di Maria, Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao.

Rangers are priced as the 9/1 underdogs for the game, with United 2/7 favourites and the draw available at 9/2.

The Rs’ push up the table may have to wait then, but with their following three games coming against Stoke, Southampton and West Ham their march up the table could well begin in earnest.
