It’s a position Eddie Howe has held for the majority of the last 12 months, but we now have a new favourite at the head of the Next Arsenal Manager market in Max Allegri.
News broke last night that the Juventus boss would be leaving his current club at the end of the season, and he’s since been backed into favouritism at 3/1 to replace Arsene Wenger.
This is widely expected to be the Frenchman’s last year in charge at the Emirates, which would coincide nicely with Allegri’s Juve exit.
The shortest price the 49-year-old had previously been in this market was 6/1, following Arsenal’s defeat away at Chelsea last weekend.
However, the latest reports from Italian media have seen that price plummet. And with Wenger having been odds-on to leave Arsenal at the end of this season earlier this week, it all seems too much of a coincidence for there to not be any truth in this story.
Whether it’s true or not, our traders certainly aren’t taking any chances.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is an 8/1 shot for the role, as is Leonardo Jardim.
With Wenger currently serving a touchline ban, his second in command, Steve Bould, has temporarily taken over in the dugout. But that’s not something we’re envisaging in the long-term, with 40/1 on offer for the former Gunners defender to permanently replace the French gaffer.
