It’s the question on everyone’s lips right now, although we’re still no clearer on when the time will come for the Arsenal board to make a decision. But just who will Arsene Wenger’s successor be?

Juventus boss Max Allegri has been heavily linked with the position in recent weeks, but reports over the weekend are suggesting that the strangest duo could be about to link up at the Emirates.

Yep, step forward Rafa Benitez and Thierry Henry.

The Newcastle United boss is currently a 10/1 shot to take over from Wenger when the French boss calls it a day in north London, while the former Arsenal forward is considered a 16/1 outsider at present.

But the best value here could potentially be in the 20/1 on offer for Benitez and Henry to work together.

It’s rumoured the Gunners are keen on the idea of hiring a club legend in the hot seat in the long-term. And with that in mind, it would make sense to bring an experienced figure like Benitez to the Emirates to show him the ropes.

Currently assistant to Robert Martinez at Belgium, Henry has never shied away from expressing an interest in the Arsenal gig at some point in the future – he’s even had coaching roles in the Gunners’ youth academy in the past.

And his time spent working under the likes of Wenger and Pep Guardiola stands him in good stead for a career in the dugout.

It’s thought Benitez is one of four names the Gunners hierarchy are currently chasing, should Wenger decide to call time on his 20 years with the club.

And while the 56-year-old is currently managing a Championship side in Newcastle, his CV is certainly impressive.

Having won La Liga twice with Valencia, as well as that famous Champions League triumph with Liverpool, the Spanish boss also knows the Premier League like the back of his hand.

The same can’t be said for the likes of Allegri and Thomas Tuchel, who are rumoured to be on the aforementioned shortlist.

Does that mean he’s a shoo-in?
