As he looks to take Arsenal back to title-winning ways, Arsene Wenger has already been a busy man in the summer’s transfer window, and the Frenchman doesn’t look like slowing down, with Atletico Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco reportedly a target for the north London club.

Wenger has already welcomed Granit Xhaka to the Emirates from Borussia Monchengladbach, and showed his intentions by activating Jamie Vardy’s release clause before the Leicester man decided to stick with his current employers.

With Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain disappointing last season for the Gunners, Wenger has been keen to strengthen his creative areas.

According to reports, his long-time target, Borussia Dortmund’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan, is now closing in on a switch to Manchester United, so the Arsenal boss is switching attention to Atletico’s Carrasco.

The Belgian was a key man for Diego Simeone’s side last term, netting in the Champions League final, totalling five goals and five assists in all competitions.

Those are solid figures in a side where goals didn’t come frequently, but 20 goals in 105 appearances for Monaco hints at a potency in front of goal, and at 22, his best days are very much still to come.

Carrasco only moved across the France-Spain border last summer however, for around £24m, and Arsenal will have to cough up enough money to persuade player and club out of a deal that runs until 2020.

The signings of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in recent years has shown Arsenal aren’t afraid to splash the cash, and they’ll need to with Carrasco currently impressing for his country at the Euros in France.
