Seven men came through the gates at White Hart Lane to soften the blow of Gareth Bale’s departure.

With one of them, Erik Lamela, rumoured to be heading back to Italy in a loan deal with Inter Milan, which Spurs signings can be proud of their early contributions at landing the club a 3/1-rated top-four finish, and who should be ashamed?

Paulinho – B
The Brazilian’s rampaging, box-to-box style of play has helped him settle quickly into Premier League life, something that his 17 league starts from a possible 20 attests.

Nacer Chadli – D
Chadli was a curious signing given the saturation in his favoured position on the wing. The fact that he’s only started consecutive games once this season shows how stop-start his early Spurs career has been.

Roberto Soldado – C
Used as a lone striker by Andre-Villas Boas, Soldado struggled to flourish early on in north London. Encouragingly the Spaniard looks a greater threat in tandem with Emmanuel Adebayor.

Etienne Capoue – E
The Frenchman’s time at his new club has been interrupted by injury and a constant shift between playing in his favoured central midfield role or in the heart of defence.

Vlad Chiriches – A
Chiriches didn’t concede a goal in a Spurs shirt in his first six starts for the club and is now an established part of the back-line, having started the last six games.

Christian Eriksen – B
After a bright start, Eriksen struggled to impose himself in matches as Spurs’ form dipped. Now used as a roaming left winger, the Dane is back in-form.

Erik Lamela – F
Three league starts for a man that cost £26m tells it’s own story. The Argentine hasn’t settled in England and hasn’t been afforded enough game time to prove he’s anything other than a flop.
