Among the debris from the ‘Raheem Sterling to Manchester United’ hit the transfer gossip columns took this morning lies a couple of nuggets about Arsenal, with the north Londoners reportedly tracking two young strikers from across the Atlantic.

There’s nothing too substantial about the first link, with the Mirror claiming Anderlecht’s Honduran winger Andy Najar, who scored against the Gunners in the Champions League this term, has issued a ‘come and get me’ plea to Arsene Wenger.

The 22-year-old hasn’t exactly been lighting up the Jupiler League, with just two more goals in 32 all-competition appearances for Anderlecht, but he’s clearly not short on confidence, if these quotes in the Mirror are anything to go by:

“I would like to go to English football and have always had a team in England which has been my dream – Arsenal. I keep that in mind.

“When I was little I liked Thierry Henry and I always had this dream of reaching Arsenal.”

The more interesting rumour at the bottom of the Mirror’s piece concerns an imminent Gunners swoop for 16-year-old Velez Sarsfield striker Maxi Romero.

The Metro claims the Argentine youngster has been offered a professional contract with his club, but that Arsenal are preparing to fly over to Buenos Aires next week in order to thrash out a deal that would leave Romero on loan at the Jose Amalfitani Stadium for the next two years, then move to the Emirates.

In an Arsenal-heavy day for rumours, the Metro also reports that co-owner Alisher Usmanov is in talks with Palermo to help the north Londoners sign Paulo Dybala, the uncapped Argentine who set Serie A alight with 10 goals in 14 matches between early November and late February.

Dybala

The papers believe Romero will cost £2m, quite a sum for a 16-year-old, but Dybala, who’s five years older, is being touted for closer to £30m, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona all thought keen.
