The transfer window may only have been shut for 73 days, but already the rumour mill is back swirling over the future of Monaco starlet Thomas Lemar.

The 21-year-old almost joined Arsenal on Transfer Deadline Day but a deal could not be brokered in time.

However, a move could still happen in 2018 according to Monaco club-president Vadim Vasilyev.

‘Definitely next summer [it] will be something to look at, although you know in football there are no guarantees’

‘January? In football, never say never, but this is not what we’re thinking of, this is really not in our plans.’

Monaco have already lost star performers Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

And with Lemar continuing to impress once again this season, he remains one of the hottest properties in European football.

Add in that the Gunners look set to lose wantaway pair Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, and the likelihood of Lemar moving to the Emirates Stadium looks even greater.
