Ajax have confirmed that star talent Riechedly Bazoer will leave the Dutch giants this January, and that has sparked plenty of interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
But the Premier League duo must also rival Juventus and Barcelona for the 20-year-old’s signature.
The midfielder has already made over 50 appearances in the famous red and white strip, and boss Peter Bosz all-but confirmed Bazoer’s exit after leaving him out of the squad to famous Standard Liege in the Europa League this week.
Speaking on Ajax’s official club website, Bosz said: “After talks with Riechedly, I assume there is a big chance that he is not with this team anymore after the winter break.”
Bazoer made his breakthrough in the 2014-15 season, but it was his performances last term which really drew attention to scouts across Europe.
Making 29 appearances – including 27 starts – the Utrecht native shone for Ajax, contributing five goals and five assists as the Amsterdam outfit finished second in the Eredivisie.
The central midfielder has fallen out of favour this term, but that could be largely down to both player and club accepting that Bazoer’s future lies elsewhere.
Valued at over £12m by transfermarkt.co.uk, and with a contract running until 2020, Ajax now look set to trouser upwards of £30-40m for their latest protégé.
Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp will need to move quick however, if they’re to get the jump on Europe’s biggest clubs for one of the continent’s biggest talents.
