AC Milan are targeting a move for QPR’s on-loan midfielder Adel Taarabt according to Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen.
The 24-year-old is currently enjoying a season-long spell with the Cottagers but the Dutch manager revealed the Moroccan was left out of the side which lost 2-0 to Swansea because of the speculation surrounding the player’s future.
It is thought Clarence Seedorf’s side are in negotiations with QPR and Fulham about a swap move involving defender Cristian Zaccardo but Meulensteen could not confirm the deal.
Milan were reportedly interested in a move for the Moroccan international last year but a deal between Harry Redknapp’s side and the San Siro outfit never materialised.
But now with Zaccardo reportedly heading to Craven Cottage as part of the deal, Taarabt’s creativity is set to boost a struggling Milan side ahead of their crunch Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid, which they are 2/1 with Ladbrokes to qualify from.
Despite the possible departure of the former Tottenham star, the Whites would be boosted by the arrival of Italian international Zaccardo.
Fulham, who are 4/6 favourites for relegation, have conceded 50 goals this season, 10 more than nearest rival Cardiff.
The west Londoners currently sit just one point above the relegation zone and the club will be hoping Zaccardo’s possible arrival will shore up a leaking defence as they battle for Premier League survival.
The 32-year-old, who was part of the Italian squad that won the World Cup in 2006, has made 17 appearances for the Azzurri.
Meanwhile, Fulham are looking to lift their survival chances by finalising a deal to bring Olympiakos striker Kostas Mitroglou to the club.
The Lilywhites have made an £11.5m offer to the Greek club in a bid to beat Liverpool and Newcastle to the signing of a player who has scored 14 goals in 11 Greek Super League matches.
