What a difference a week makes!

After Manchester United drew against West Brom most Red Devils fans would have probable been happy with one point, ecstatic with two and over the moon with any more from the next two games against Chelsea and Manchester City.

However, the performance Louis van Gaal’s side put in against the league leaders and the mini-crisis City have entered in the meantime has the confidence soaring at Old Trafford once again.

City still go into the game as 17/20 favourites, while United can be backed at 3/1 and the draw priced at 14/5, but here are three reasons why an away win could be the way to go.

Wazza’s Back

After stupidly getting himself sent off against West Ham captain Wayne Rooney will be out to make amends with a commanding display against City.

The hitman has been guaranteed a starting place and will surely be chomping at the bit having missed three games.

And considering he scored five goals in his last six games against the Sky Blues, this should be a concern for the hosts.

Rooney to score first 8/1 or anytime 5/2

Pellegrini’s lack of confidence

It may be designed to lull United into a false sense of security but City boss Manuel Pellegrini was less than happy with his side’s efforts in the wake of the 2-0 League Cup loss to Newcastle.

The City gaffer cited a “lack of trust” as a key issues in his side’s winless run and knows a sharp turnaround is needed to get a positive derby day result

Injury concerns over Yaya and Silva

David Silva is a major doubt for the game after limping out of the Magpies loss with a knee injury.

Yaya Toure also has a question mark hanging over his head after sustaining a groin strain and while Pellegrini has not ruled out either player they could struggle to impact the game fully if not 100 per cent fit.
