3 potential Everton striker signings other than Charlie Austin

Charlie Austin and his agent are going to be inundated with phone calls from interested clubs now that QPR’s Premier League relegation has been confirmed, but Roberto Martinez and Everton will not be one of them.

According to regional paper The Liverpool Echo, the Toffees do not want the 17-goal striker despite being in the market for a third option.

After Sameul Eto’o’s stint at Goodison Park became short lived this season, Martinez is on the hunt for another frontman to compliment first-choice Romelu Lukaku and the injury maligned Arouna Kone, inspiring news.ladbrokes to find three potential choices for the club this summer:

Michu – Swansea

The Spaniard will be heading back to the Liberty after a wholly unsuccessful loan stint at Napoli that was riddled with injury.

Garry Monk has said he would be happy to reintegrate Michu back into his side, but it could be that the player’s heart is no longer in south Wales, in which case Martinez can use his connections at his former club to do a deal.

Franco Di Santo – Werder Bremen

Di Santo and Martinez worked together at Wigan, where the Argentine was often ridiculed for a lack of goalscoring touch.

There can be no such accusations this season, with the former Chelsea man notching 13 goals in 24 Bundesliga appearances for Werder Bremen.

A reunion with his old boss isn’t entirely out of the question, as the Germans aren’t guaranteed Europa League football and Di Santo has a reputation to repair in this country.

Roberto Soldado – Spurs

Having enjoyed success loaning Aaron Lennon from White Hart Lane for the second half of the season, Martinez could return to north London to rescue another lumbering Lilywhite.

The chance to start regular games may be no more apparent on Merseyside than they are at Spurs, but it’s clear the former Valencia striker is unwanted at the Lane next season.
