David Beckham’s spokesman may have rubbished claims that the former England captain has approached clubs in the A-League over a short-term move, but it is five sides in Australia that lead the betting to be where he heads next.

Beckham has decided to call time on his six-season stint with the LA Galaxy after the MLS Cup game with Houston Dynamo on December 1st and no decision has yet been made regarding his future.

Emile Heskey has been among the names championing a move to the A-League and he has urged Football Federation Australia to do all they can to encourage Beckham to sign a deal.

The league is enhancing its status at present and big money has already been spent once when Alessandro Del Piero joined Sydney FC.

Perth Glory and Melbourne Hearts have been the two clubs are thought to be leading the queue to submit bids and they are favourites to be Beckham’s next club.

It is 5/2 that he heads to Perth, with 3/1 the price that he joins Melbourne, who have been most outspoken to date about talks with Beckham.

Next at 4/1 are the Central Coast Mariners and Adelaide United, with Western Sydney Wanderers completing the Aussie clubs at 5/1.

Beckham has stated his decision to enjoy one final challenge, so this does little to suggest that he will remain in the MLS, albeit it’s 8/1 he moves to the New York Red Bulls alongside the likes of Thierry Henry, Tim Cahill and Rafael Marquez.

It is 16/1 that he drops down the American football pyramid to hook up with Eric Cantona at the New York Cosmos.

Snoop Dogg is known to be a good friend of Beckham and the rapper has been linked with making an investment at Celtic following their Champions League victory over Barcelona.

This is likely to prove total nonsense, but if it is indeed true, 16/1 is not the worst price that Beckham has a spell in Scotland with Celtic.

David Beckham’s next club:
5/2 Perth Glory
3/1 Melbourne Heart
4/1 Central Coast Mariners
4/1 Adelaide United
5/1 Western Sydney Wanderers
8/1 New York Red Bulls
16/1 New York Cosmos
16/1 Celtic
16/1 PSG
20/1 Milan
33/1 Man Utd
50/1 Real Madrid
8/1 Any other English club
