Clash with Hereford is a must win for Northampton

They may have shocked Liverpool in the Carling Cup, but Northampton Town’s league form has itself been shocking.

Just two league wins all season has left Ian Sampson’s side one place above the relegation places and they’ve lost three on the bounce.

This dip in form led to Cobblers’ chairman David Cardoza effectively issuing a vote of confidence this week, and he will be expecting a performance from Northampton, especially as they’re playing bottom of the pile Hereford.

They will be boosted by the return of experienced striker Leon McKenzie from injury and at 5/6 should really triumph over Hereford.

Hereford are rapidly starting to look like a write off already considering they’ve not won since the opening day of the season, leaving them four points adrift from safety and they currently have physio Jamie Pitman in charge after sacking Simon Davey.

Pitman will hope to galvanise his team, but with no win in ten, odds of 10/3 look quite optimistic for them to beat Northampton.

Away from Sixfields, fifth placed Shrewsbury will hope for a routine win when lowly Lincoln come to the ProStar Stadium.

The Shrews Jake Robinson has seven goals so far this year, but has had a relative dry spell after drawing a blank in last two games. He’s 9/2 to score first and his team are 8/11 to win, with Lincoln available at 4/1.

Southend can rise an astounding seven places from 14th to 7th if results go their way, and their price of 5/4 to beat Crewe suggests they may do so, but Crewe can reach eighth and are 2/1 to win.

Further down the league, Barnet can jump out of the bottom two if they win away at Stockport, it’s 11/5 for that to happen.

Bradford can also pull away from trouble if they beat seventh placed Cheltenham.

Having won last week, they’re 1/1 to do that, but the Robins have won their last two so are marked at 11/4.

Jake Robinson is 14/1 to be League Two’s top goal scorer. See the full Power League Two betting odds market here.
