There’s been quite the shake-up at Swindon Town this afternoon, with the Wiltshire outfit announcing former Premier League winner Tim Sherwood as their new sporting director. And his appointment could give Robins fans plenty to chirp about.

The bookies make it 7/2 for the club’s new director of football to lead the Robins into the Championship, while it’s 20s that he takes them all the way to the promised land of the Premier League.

Swindon’s recent struggles make it 4/6 they fall to League Two under Sherwood’s watch, with the County Ground outfit currently locked in a relegation battle, having won one of their last seven in the league.

However, the 7/1 for the Wiltshire club to reach any cup final could leave County Ground regulars dreaming, following their bold appointment.

Meanwhile, 1/2 says he heads into the dugout as head coach or manager during his stint in the South-West.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “It’s not every day you see a former Premier League boss pitch up at League One strugglers, and signing up Sherwood could have Robins fans dreaming of their own return to the top-flight.”

Next up for Swindon is a home game against Charlton Athletic, with the hosts 12/5 for victory in their first meeting with the Addicks in over five years.
