Roulette may be a game of chance, but when it comes to the midweek League One football action it would be a shrewd move to stick all your money on red.

Backing wins for the crimson trio of Rotherham United, Swindon Town and Crewe Alexandra at just over 5/1 not only offers great value, but also represents something approaching a banker – an increasing rarity in English league football.

Swindon Town to beat Walsall @ 5/6

The Robins are flying high in League One at present having won four on the bounce and there is every reason to think that run will continue against Walsall with Swindon claiming victory in each of their last four fixtures at the County Ground.

By contrast, the Saddlers have picked up just one win in their last three and have failed to take three points from their hosts since way back in 2008.

Throw in the statistic that Swindon have scored two goals in three of their last four against Walsall and a home win looks a near certainty.

Crewe to beat Stevenage @ 11/10

The Alex head into this game off the back of two straight wins in League One and there is every reason to think they can make it a hat-trick against sorry Stevenage.

Three consecutive losses on the road and nine goals conceded tells its own story but in truth Boro’s issues stretch back to the tail end of last term, with the visitors claiming just one win in their last 15 played away from Broadhall Way.

With Crewe fresh from an impressive 1-0 win over Bristol City at Alexandra Stadium, a home win over a team in the relegation zone should be a given.

Rotherham to beat Tranmere @ 7/10

Third from bottom and with six defeats in their last seven league games, Tranmere fans will be dreading a trip to the Don Valley Stadium – a ground where they have yet to record a win or even a draw in the league.

Rotherham may have recently slipped to defeats against high-flyers Peterborough and Swindon, but prior to those results the Millers were in rude health and could use this game as a springboard for the rest of the campaign.

They have certainly never struggled for goals against Tranmere, scoring twice in three of their last four meetings with Rovers. It all adds up to another home win for the team in red.
