Life as a League One manager has started far better than new Oldham boss Paul Dickov could ever have anticipated, as it’s taken him just two games to lead the Latics to the top of the table.
The former Manchester City and Leicester striker took the club above fellow 100 per cent record holders Charlton with a 3-0 victory over Notts County, who are struggling already under Dickov’s former Blackburn team-mate Craig Short.
The Boundary Park side, who handed Iain Dowie his managerial breakthrough in 2002, finished just two points above the relegation zone last year, so aren’t expected to sustain their impressive start.
They’re 33/1 to win the title, having been stuck in the third tier since 1997, with only two play-off semi-final appearances to show so far for their 14-season tenure.
