Man City youngster James Poole has joined League One side Hartlepool on a month’s loan.

The 20-year-old has yet to make a senior appearance for the Citizens and will be hoping to get plenty of minutes under his belt at Victoria Park.

The striker was a part of the 2008 team that won the FA Youth Cup and signed a new deal with City in March.

He spent the last part of last season on loan at Bury, making nine appearances.

He has yet to score a senior goal though and will want to make sure he finds the net while in a Hartlepool shirt.

When asked why he had joined Hartlepool, Poole told the media a Man City team mate had convinced him to join the club.

“I spoke to Adam Johnson when I was supposed to be signing and he said there are some nice places around here, he promoted the club to me,” said Poole.

Poole can also play on the wing and is in the squad for Hartlepool’s match with Leyton Orient this weekend – Hartlepool are 2/1 to win.

He will be a welcome addition if he can find himself among the goals as Hartlepool have averaged just a goal a game so far this season.

This lack of goals led to the team only picking up six points from their first six games, but they’ve recovered recently.

They’ve won four of their last five games, including an impressive 2-0 win last weekend over title challenging Peterborough.

In that kind of form, they will want to make short work of an Orient side who have just the one win in their seven league games.

Orient will need to be at their best and have the comfort of knowing they haven’t lost at home in three matches – they have been made 5/4 to beat Hartlepool.

Hartlepool are 125/1 to win League One. Follow the full NPower League One betting odds market here.
