Experimentation and injuries will give plenty of players in league form the chance to impress as England take on Germany at Wembley. Both sides have relatively untested strikers in hot goal-scoring form away from the spotlight of the Champions League.

Max Kruse has been one of the Bundesliga’s best summer signings, bagging seven goals in 11 games this season for Borussia Mönchengladbach after 13 strikes last term for Freiburg led to a £2m move. The mobile striker got his first international goal in America this summer and is 11/5 to find the net at Wembley.

For England, Liverpool’s Daniel Strurridge has declared himself “raring to go” after missing Friday’s defeat to Chile with a foot injury. The striker has been on fire for the Reds with 10 goals in 12 games in all competitions – his highest ever tally for a season was 13 in 2011-12.

Having opened his international account earlier this year against San Marino, Sturridge is 15/2 to be the first goalscorer against Germany.

He’ll be aiming to score past a replacement German goalkeeper with Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer set to be rested. Löw will choose between Hamburg’s Rene Adler, recalled last year after a two-year injury layoff, and Dortmund’s Roman Weidenfeller, looking for his first international cap aged 33.

Both sides also have exciting young talents providing a goal threat from the wing.

Tottenham’s Andros Townsend may get the chance to test himself against major opposition following his man of the match performance against Montenegro earlier this year. He’s 12/1 to score the opening goal as he did in that match.

For Germany, Bayer Leverkusen’s Sidney Sam has been a domestic revelation with 11 goals in 18 games in all competitions this season having only scored that many in the previous two seasons combined. However, he’s yet to score at international level in four appearances. You can back Sam to break his duck at Wembley at 10/3.
