Harry Redknapp believes Glenn Hoddle deserves another chance as England manager and Ladbrokes have responded with the latest of their Breaking Bets series.

The bookmaker has made Hoddle, who is now Redknapp’s assistant manager at QPR, 16/1 to become the next permanent Three Lions manager after the Hoops boss backed him for another opportunity in the country’s top job.

Hoddle led England to the 1998 World Cup where they lost on penalties to Argentina in the last 16 but lost the job less than a year later after making controversial comments about the disabled.

And Redknapp believes Hoddle deserves a second chance but has also put forward Brendan Rodgers and Roberto Martinez as top candidates to replace Roy Hodgson when he calls time on his role with the national team.

Rangers boss Redknapp said: “If you ask me who I would like to see when Roy finishes, I would like either Roberto Martinez or Brendan Rodgers.

“Or maybe Glenn Hoddle, who I have a lot of time for. He possibly has unfinished business and has a great football brain.

“He made one or two silly remarks but he is a really lovely person and he is someone who would come into the reckoning for me.”

Despite throwing his weight behind the former Tottenham and Southampton boss, Redknapp has ruled out his own chances ever getting into the England hot seat.

He told LBC radio: “I do not see myself having any chance in the future. Time moves on.”

For the time being Hodgson leads England into their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign with a tough encounter against Switzerland in Basel.

The Three Lions are 2/1 with Ladbrokes for victory, while Switzerland, who boast Bayern Munich midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri in their ranks, are 13/8 favourites for the win.

The draw, which would be a good result for this new-look England set-up, is available at 21/10 but defeat would increase the pressure on Hodgson.
