Darren Bent looks a great price at 9/4 to score at any time for England in their friendly with Denmark after manager Fabio Capello stated his intention to start the Aston Villa striker in attack.

With the likes of Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch injured, Capello has seen his choices limited when it comes to choosing a partner for Wayne Rooney in attack.

Carlton Cole and Gabriel Agbonlahor are in the squad but have hardly been prolific for their clubs, while Jermain Defoe has been struggling to hold down a place in Tottenham’s starting line-up.

This makes Bent easily the leading candidate because of his ten Premier League goals this season and two in four games since his move to Aston Villa from Sunderland.

Capello is eager to allow Bent and Rooney to form a partnership in attack, although it has not previously worked when trialled last season against Brazil and Japan.

However, Capello feels that Bent has taken his previous criticism on board and has taken steps towards improving his all-round game.

The England boss said: “Before, he was only playing for the box. Now he is a player who can play for the team. This is important. When I choose the player, I choose him for the team.

“I want to see him with Rooney because everyone knows he is terrible for defenders in the box. He takes up good positions, he gets the ball. He scores.”

If Bent does start then he may also be overpriced in the football betting at 7/1 to be the first goalscorer against Denmark.

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard is expected to captain the team in the absence of Rio Ferdinand and Steven Gerrard and he is 10/3 to cap the privilege with a goal within the 90 minutes.

In terms of match betting, England are 6/5 to win in Copenhagen, with the hosts available at 9/5.

A £25 stake on Lampard scoring first would return £250. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
