There have been persistent rumours that Roberto Mancini is ready to overhaul his Manchester City squad this summer, should he remain in charge of the club.

A number of high-profile departures are mooted, and Carlos Tevez appears to be at the forefront of these, primed to finally end his turbulent relationship with Mancini.

Tevez’ off-field demeanours, most recently a charge for driving whilst disqualified, have led to further frustrations from his manager, who would now be willing to offload the striker for around £20m.

The Argentinian, who has notched 15 times in all competitions this season, has often stated his desire to return to his native country due to family reasons.

And that wish could become a reality this summer, as Boca Juniors are reportedly set to offer the 29-year-old a return to his first ever club.

Mancini has already identified a use for the generated cash too, as he prepares to put it towards a monumental bid for Napoli ace Edinson Cavani.

City have maintained an interest in the powerful Uruguayan striker for some time, and had a £40m offer for the player rejected back in January.

The Serie A outfit have now outlined a defined asking price for their star asset though, with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis saying he will do business for £60m.

He went on to proclaim that the Citizens would be ‘nutters’ to pay such a fee, but should the expected departures of Tevez, and the likes of Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko materialise, they very well could do.

Of course, the Sky Blues already possess astronomical spending power, and would bring in close to £60m by letting that trio of players leave the Etihad in the close season.

Therefore, particularly if a raft of City players head for the exit this summer, the chances of them triggering 26-year-old Cavani’s huge release fee clause appear serious.
