The FA Cup third round is just around the corner and the winners of these three matches will be rewarded with glamour ties against some of the English games’ big guns.
Hereford are the stars of our 14/1 treble as they bid to upstage League Two’s Cheltenham at Edgar Street, while Macclesfield and Mansfield are also expected to progress to the third round.
Hereford to beat Cheltenham @ 2/1
The winner of this contest will play host to high-flying Everton in early January and, despite the inferior level on which the Bulls operate, they’re in good enough form to see off Mark Yates’ men who aren’t the best of travellers.
The Robins may currently occupy the final automatic promotion spot in League Two, but they have only won just one of their last five away games, shipping a very generous 10 goals in their last three.
The Blue Square Premier side showed how good they can be at home in despatching League One opposition in the first round; Shrewsbury feeling their wrath in a 3-1 defeat.
Back the hosts to overcome their local rivals in this second round clash to set up an exciting tie with the Toffees.
Macclesfield to beat Barrow @ 7/5
Barrow are currently joint-bottom of the Blue Square Premier and no side has conceded more goals on their own patch in the division.
The Silkmen are in play-off contention at the right end of the same table and, although they’re not in great touch with just one win in five, they are more than capable of ending the strugglers’ interest in the competition.
Macclesfield triumphed when the sides met at Moss Lane earlier in the season and their underdog price is one that should prove profitable.
Mansfield to beat Lincoln @ 1/1
Just three points separate these sides in the upper reaches of the Blue Square Premier, yet home advantage makes Mansfield the favourable bet here.
The winner will play host to arguably the tie of the third round when they entertain footballing behemoths Liverpool and the Stags come into this game on the back of a nine-match unbeaten run.
Furthermore, they haven’t lost at Field Mill since the first day of the campaign and must fancy themselves to get the job done against Lincoln following their 3-3 draw in the second round proper.
