Just three days after drawing a blank in south London, Blackburn and Millwall will go at it once more to determine which side will face Wigan in the FA Cup semi-final.
The FA Cup is the only thing getting either side out of bed this season after their league aspirations have frittered away to nothing so both have to go for it at Ewood Park. Rovers are available at 5/6, but their awful form of late is cause to avoid this in favour of the visitors at 13/5, while another draw in 90 minutes is a 23/10 shot.
The Lions roared to a 2-0 victory when they visited this corner of Lancashire earlier in the campaign and knowing Michael Appleton’s men haven’t won any of the six games they’ve played since knocking Arsenal out in the previous round, failing to find the back of the net five times.
They haven’t found a way past Millwall’s defence in either of the two tussles this term as well, so backing the away team to keep a clean sheet here at 14/5 could prove a shrewd move, while the away win to nil at 11/2 is an excellent outside punt.
If Millwall are to send Blackburn packing and reserve a semi-final berth, they’ll have to become the first side to beat Jake Kean in the Rovers goal in this season’s competition. Another Blackburn clean sheet is on offer at 6/4, but this run of shut-outs should expire in the quarter-final replay on account of the home sides’ despicable level of performance in recent weeks.
Both teams to score could be a route to go down in search of a winner on this clash.
The Lions have only been kept at bay in four of their previous 11 away games in all competitions yet, while Blackburn can’t score for love nor money at the moment, only two sides of Championship stature (one being Rovers) have failed to score against them in the same period. A price of 17/20 is on offer for both sets of fans to celebrate at least once in this clash.
