Real Madrid and Manchester United face off for the second time in under a month in Tuesday night’s UEFA Super Cup tussle in Skopje. With these two always producing entertaining affairs, we’re tipping up goals. And that’s just for starters…
Each of the last seven meetings between this pair – competitive and otherwise – have seen both sides find the net. That means the 4/6 on offer for Both Teams to Score looks like a straightforward winner.
However, with a hefty 27 goals having been produced from that septet of meetings, Over 3.5 Goals looks well worth a flutter at odds of 19/10.
There’s little sign of that letting up with so much attacking talent on display. But we’ve looking past the big-name strikers to pick out a couple of value outsiders in the goalscorer markets.
In the Red Devils’ ranks, our eyes are on Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian loves continental competition, having scored in six of United’s Europa League games last term. With three more strikes to his name in pre-season, we like him at 14/5 to score anytime, while there’s 9/1 about the fan-favourite opening the scoring.
As for Madrid, we’re looking at Casemiro. The midfielder scored in the pair’s International Champions Cup meeting a few weeks ago, as well as registering in the Champions League Final. So the Brazilian could well prove a savvy bet to net in Macedonia at odds of 7/1.
Leading into this game, it’s Jose Mourinho’s men who have looked the better. They’ve won six of their seven pre-season games, while Real endured several defeats – including a 4-1 hammering by United’s local rivals Manchester City.
With that in mind, we like the Red Devils in the match betting at 5/2, with Los Blancos 19/20 favourites and 12/5 on offer for honours-even after 90 minutes.
However, with a flurry of goals likely, the 11/2 for Man United to win and Both Teams to Score looks the way to go.
