If you piece together in a fourfold the odds of the teams to have trounced the competition in the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A and La Liga last season, to win their divisions again this, you get a pleasantly surprising 11/1.

The last time the quartet which won Europe’s top four divisions did so in consecutive seasons was in the mid noughties and three of those teams are odds-on with Ladbrokes to repeat that feat again in 2013/14.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Juventus all won their respective divisions in both the 2004/05 and the 2005/06 campaigns, although Juve were later stripped of their 05/06 crown as part of the match-fixing scandal which enveloped Italian football.

A fresh-faced Jose Mourinho’s 1-0 winning-Chelsea outfit were the English team to complete the foursome back then.

Fast-forward to the present day and Bayern (1/8), Barcelona (1/4) and Juventus (7/10) are all the odds-on favourites to win their respective leagues again, while this time it’s Manchester United who replace Chelsea as the English side chasing consecutive titles.

Another common thread running between this continental quartet is that they didn’t just win their respective divisions last year, they all smashed them by at least 10 points.

And it’s United’s thorny start under their new manager David Moyes and subsequent (19/5) price for the title, which makes throwing all these teams in a fourfold so tempting.

The Red Devils may have started like a snail, but that latest win against Arsenal places them right back in the mix, just five points behind the Gunners heading into the international break.

Meanwhile, Bayern are currently leading the Bundesliga by four points, Barcelona top La Liga by three and Juventus moved to within a point of Roma by smashing fellow title rivals Napoli 3-0 in their last game.
