Despite lifting the Serie A title last season it has been a quiet summer transfer period for AC Milan.
The Italian club seem to be short of cash and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic picking up an ankle injury, the Italian champions are looking for reinforcements up front.
Defeats to Juventus and Inter Milan in the pre season has has seen the Rossoneru fans call for reinforcements and manager Massimiliano Allegri is eyeing up three Premier League targets.
Allegri is considering loan moves for out-of-favour Man City striker Mario Balotelli and Spurs striker Peter Crouch as cover for Ibrahimovic, while Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani could finally find a route back to Italy.
Balotelli’s antics pre-season have meant that the Italian striker has found himself way down the pecking order at Eastlands, and after Sergio Aguero’s stunning debut, Balotelli will find breaking back in to the team difficult.
Despite playing for Milan’s rivals Inter, Balotelli once donned an Milan shirt in an interview and it seems Allegri is willing to take a chance on the petulant striker.
Crouch impressed Allegri when Spurs dumped out AC Milan in the Champions League last season and with Emmanuel Adebayor expected to move to White Hart Lane in the coming days, Crouch will also find himself down the pecking order.
Having lost the ageing Andrea Pirlo to Juventus earlier in the summer, Allegri is yet to bring in any midfielders despite 11 players coming in to the club.
Dalglish seems keen to hand Aquilani a second chance at Liverpool but should Milan make a move for the midfielder it’s difficult to see Liverpool standing in the way of a move back to his home country.
Milan are the 5/4 favourites to lift the Serie A trophy this season and have already beaten Inter in the Supercoppa.
They open their campaign with a trip to Cagliari on August 27 before games with Lazio, Napoli, Udinese and Cesena complete their September.
It’s a tough start for the Italian champions and Allegri has just 11 days to find any reinforcements.
