Borussia Dortmund may have romped into an 11-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings, but Schalke are a great bet at 9/2 to throw the chasing pack a lifeline by claiming a victory at Signal Iduna Park.

Match Odds

Dortmund have won 16 of their opening 20 Bundesliga games this season, but somewhat strangely they have taken more points on their travels than on their own patch.

Meanwhile, they do not have the greatest track record in their most recent meetings with Schalke, winning just three of the last 24 Bundesliga meetings between the pair.

This record does not improve much when just Dortmund’s home games are analysed as they have won just one and lost six of the last 11 fixtures at Signal Iduna Park.

Schalke also head into the derby in good form having won their last two Bundesliga away games, including a win over title hopefuls Mainz.

However, Dortmund are worthy favourites at 4/7 to beat last season’s Bundesliga runners up, even though they are without influential attacker Shinji Kagawa, who faces a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury representing Japan at the Asian Cup.

Correct Scoreline

Although it appears obvious, if Schalke can stop Dortmund from scoring then there is every chance that they can secure victory.

Dortmund have only failed to score on two occasions in the Bundesliga this season and these blanks in front of goal have resulted in their only two defeats.

And with Schalke only netting more than once in their last 11 away games in the league, a 1-0 Schalke win may prove the best bet at 10/1.

Punters fancying Dortmund to pick up yet another victory, may find that a 3-1 victory, which was the result when they beat Schalke earlier in the season, may provide good value at 10/1.

A £25 stake on Dortmund beating Schalke 2-0 would return £150. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
