This weekend sees the first round of Primera Liga games in what promises to be a hugely entertaining season as Barcelona’s Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid go head-to-head for the title.

At 6.00pm on Saturday evening, Alicante will host the first game when Atheltic Bilbao travel to the Rico Perez stadium to play newly promoted Hercules.

After 13 years in exile, Hercules are 6/4 to win their first game back in the top division, but will face a Bilbao side who have never been relegated from the top flight and have won on four of their last five trips to Alicante.

In 17 league encounters between these two sides, only one has ended in a draw, currently priced at 9/4.

Elsewhere Malaga host Valencia while Seville make the trip to Levante.

Valencia will be excited at the prospect of taking on Manchester United in their Champions League draw – Valencia are 4/1 to top the group – and can use the optimism to make their customary good start to the season.

Valencia have won seven of their nine opening matches but will be without new signing Roberto Soldado as they look to justify their 13/10 favouritism.

On the contrary, Levante have yet to win an opening match of the top flight season in five attempts and Sevilla will be looking to take advantage having scored in every meeting that La Liga has witnessed between these two.

Despite playing away from home, Seville are Evens favourites for the game.

The stats back up Sevilla’s chances but Valencia are the better value to start with victory. You can view the Spanish La Liga betting market here.
