On a pitch which looked more like it was used for rearing cattle than playing football, Manchester United came away with a 1-1 draw against FC Rostov. But with the home comforts of Old Trafford on their side for the second leg, it should be a cakewalk for Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Red Devils’ previous four home games in this season’s Europa League have all ended in victory, with the North-West giants chalking up 12 goals and conceding just one in the process.

And while they were narrowly – and controversially – edged out on the road against Chelsea in midweek, the hosts’ form at the Theatre of Dreams has been consistently impressive. They’re now unbeaten in 20 games on home turf, winning 14 of those.

By contrast, Rostov are out-of-sorts wherever they’re playing right now. Just two wins in their last eight have been underpinned by a struggle for goals – failing to find the net on four of those occasions.

That means we think the 11/2 for the hosts to win 3-0 could be an excellent shout, while it’s 4/1 for United to simply win by 3 goals.

And it’s unlikely they’ll take long to find their stride, having led at the break in six of their last seven wins. So we recommend lumping on Man United to lead at half-time and win at odds of 4/5.

In the goalscorer markets, Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s first-leg goal makes him well worth considering – especially as he’s scored in four of his last eight outings.

The Armenian is 23/20 to net anytime, while there’s 4/1 on offer for him to open the scoring for the sixth time this season.

In the match betting, Man United are hot-favourites at 1/4, with 19/4 for the draw, and 11/1 for the Russians to outscore their hosts in 90 minutes.
