Aston Villa have held all of the aces in the previous Capital One Cup encounters with Norwich, but the tide is expected to turn this season at Carrow Road.

Norwich look great value at 1/1 to not only reach their first semi final since winning the competition in 1985, but leave Paul Lambert feeling blue on his first return to Carrow Road since departing the Canaries for Villa in the summer.

Lambert’s former club are unbeaten in their last ten games in all competitions, a run which includes a 1-1 Premier League draw at Villa Park where they had the better of things in the second half.

Furthermore, they have already beaten Manchester United, Arsenal and Stoke at home this season, with Liverpool the only visiting team to leave Carrow Road with maximum points.

Villa have been in improved form themselves as they have avoided defeat in their last four Premier League games, although they have only won the once in this period.

This may add some value to the 23/10 that extra time is required to find a semi finalist.

Meanwhile, it is 11/4 that Villa extend their 100 per cent record over Norwich in the League Cup to five games and they have come through away ties in each of the last two rounds.

Norwich have played at home in every round to reach the quarter finals this season and interestingly have defeated Scunthorpe, Doncaster and Tottenham by the odd goal.

It is 31/10 that Norwich extend this sequence further by beating Villa by a one goal margin.

Gabby Agbonlahor has been Villa’s top scorer in the competition and he is a tempting 3/1 to add a fourth goal to his tally at any time in the 90 minutes.

For Norwich, Simeon Jackson was the hero with the late winner at Spurs and has been introduced off the bench in each of the last two rounds.

He is 7/4 to score at any time and a potentially lucrative 6/1 to be the game’s last scorer.
