Middlesbrough players and fans celebrate Man United win

It was a night to remember for Middlesbrough’s players and fans as their side unceremoniously dumped Manchester United out of the Capital One Cup.

The Teessiders’ 3-1 win on penalties following a 0-0 draw after extra-time at Old Trafford secured their passage to the quarter-finals and sparked wild celebrations amongst the travelling support.

And it’s fair to say there that yesterday evening’s success was well celebrated on Social Media too.

Match-winning defender Ben Gibson was understandably pretty chuffed…

Meanwhile, Adam Clayton was a little miffed that he didn’t get the chance to be the hero…

Here’s a pic of the celebrations afterwards. Pin-up boy George Friend received a lot of love.

On to more serious matters though. This Boro fan gave props to Grant Leadbitter for his composure in the penalty shoot-out.

This supporter kept her show of appreciation for midfielder Stewart Downing short and sweet.

Boro may have even gained a celebrity fan following their heroics.

This one sums it all up…
