If there’s one man you’d back to get you to a major cup final, it’s Jurgen Klopp. And Liverpool fans will be hoping their boss can do exactly that this week as Liverpool look to overturn a one goal deficit against Southampton in their EFL Cup semi-final second leg.
Despite winning just one of their last six matches in all competitions, we still reckon the Reds will progress to their second consecutive Wembley showpiece.
But if you’re not tempted by the 10/21 on offer for Klopp’s men to win the match, then we’ve scoured the other markets to find the best value for you…
Reds will want to get the job done early
The last thing Liverpool will want tonight is extra-time.
Having already had to travel to Plymouth Argyle for an Emirates FA Cup Third Round Replay last week, in the middle of the most crucial stage of their season, they’ll be looking to win in ninety minutes here.
And to do that, they’ll have to win by more than one goal – something they’ve done on 10 occasions already this season in all competitions.
Claude Puel’s Southampton, on the other hand, have been on the receiving end of defeats by more than a one-goal margin some five times this campaign. That’s as many as they managed in the whole of last campaign.
Top Bet – Liverpool -1 @ 5/4
Origi can take advantage of broken defence
Having just sold Jose Fonte to West Ham, the Saints could also be without Virgil van Dijk, who is in a race against time to be fully fit for this second leg clash.
That means high-scoring Liverpool could run riot at Anfield, and if anyone is likely to grab themselves a brace, it’s Divock Origi.
Already with seven goals to his name in all competitions this season, it’s worth noting the Belgian netted a hat-trick against the south coast outfit in this competition last year.
Top Bet – Origi to score two or more @ 6/1
Klopp’s men should edge the first-half
Despite scoring a staggering 64 goals in all competitions so far this season – it’s not uncommon for Liverpool to take a one goal lead into the interval.
In fact, it’s something they’ve done on seven occasions since August.
Given how much is at stake in tonight’s match, we’re expecting Klopp’s side to fly out the traps and push for an early goal.
Should that happen, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Merseyside outfit played out the rest of the first-half without pushing too far forward and leaving themselves exposed at the back.
If the Reds can head into the interval with a 1-0 lead under their belt, you’d expect them to step things up a level in the business end of the game.
Top Bet – Correct score at half-time: Liverpool 1-0 Southampton @ 5/2
