The League Cup action continues apace this Wednesday with five games on the schedule and offering plenty in the way of accumulator potential.

We’re plumped for an 11/1 fourfold featuring predictable wins for Aston Villa, Stoke City and Sunderland as well as a potential upset for Leeds at Valley Parade.

Aston Villa to beat Leyton Orient @ 8/15

Paul Lambert has already pledged to field a strong side for the visit of Orient and, with the Villans in good form after picking up four points from the six available so far in the Premier League, it would take a brave man to go against the hosts.

Russell Slade’s side have gone 189 minutes without scoring a goal in League One and could come unstuck against a Villa side that dispatched lowly opposition in the form of Bradford and Rotherham in this competition last term.

Sunderland to beat Birmingham @ 11/10

The Black Cats were unlucky not to inflict a second successive Premier League defeat on Manchester United last time out but should fare better against a Birmingham team that failed to win any of their last 18 games at St Andrew’s in the Championship last season.

Lee Clark’s team may be faring better this term but a Sunderland side with fond memories of their march to the final of this competition last season will be keen to kick-off another cup run.

Bradford to beat Leeds @ 8/5

The Bantams may have gone down 1-0 to Peterborough at the weekend but they remain a largely solid outfit and one that would no doubt relish the chance to inflict more misery on one of their Yorkshire rivals.

Leeds suffered a 4-1 loss to Watford at the weekend to make it three defeats from their first four Championship games and after making hard work of Accrington in a 2-1 win in the last round, Bradford could prove more than a match.

Stoke to beat Portsmouth @ 4/9

Mark Hughes’ team salvaged a draw against Hull last time out to pick up an important point away from home in the Premier League and, while Portsmouth are in good form, the Potters possess more than enough class to see off the south coast side.

Walsall and Tranmere were both dispatched by Stoke in this competition last term and a Pompey team keen to focus on promotion from League Two may even take their foot off the gas when these two meet.
