Anything but Chelsea Community Shield success is unforeseeable

As anyone who follows English football knows, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has never beaten Chelsea gaffer Jose Mourinho, with their head-to-head matchups standing at 13 now, so the Gunners to retain the Community Shield within 90 minutes at 19/10 with Ladbrokes holds no appeal.

Far better is the 8/11 about the Premier League champions to lift the trophy under their uber-successful manager, who was out jibing Wenger in the press ahead of the Wembley clash.

After describing the Frenchman as an expert in failure during the 2013/14 campaign, and hot on the heels of mocking Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez’s weight last week, Mourinho stuck the boot in once more by suggesting he would have to ask questions of himself where he in Wenger’s position.

Mourinho said:

“I would try to answer, not because of a mental block but because I would want to try to find solutions to help my team to do it – try to find a different way, try to find the reasons why it goes all the time against my team.”

There’s little reason to doubt the Portuguese will get the upper hand again, as Chelsea have only had positive results over Arsenal since their most successful manager ever returned from Real Madrid two years ago, winning three times, including a 6-0 disembowelling at Stamford Bridge 17 months ago.

The manner of this pair’s last couple of meetings away from Chelsea’s base suggest we could be in for a long evening in north London though, as the said clashes both finished 0-0, the most recent draw coming at the end of April at Arsenal.

With that in mind, stick with Chelsea to take the prize outright at 8/11 and swerve their 7/5 win-draw-win odds.
