The Leeds takeover saga which rumbles on has most recently witnessed players being forced to take a wage cut and unsurprisingly, results on the pitch have reflected the chaotic state of the club.

After their latest Championship loss at home to Charlton – their sixth league defeat in seven and the Yorkshire club’s third straight – under fire Leeds boss Brian McDermott called the off-field situation “a joke”.

Clearly McDermott wasn’t referring to the funny kind. Meanwhile, respite will be in short supply for the former Reading manager who must sail the most unhappy of ships to Wigan where Uwe Rosler’s side await, having gone unbeaten in their last 12 matches at the DW Stadium.

So when Sky Sports’ cameras beam this early Saturday kick-off to your living room, the only way to go in the match betting stakes is the 8/15 on a Wigan victory which would go a long way to cementing their play-off status.

Leeds have only beaten one current top-half side on the road all season, losing another seven times, so given their abseil down the table, 5/1 may even be on the skinny side.

It’s true that Wigan’s own serene progress in the other direction has been checked in recent times, as they’re three without a win themselves, but two of those matches were against third-place QPR and leaders Leicester last time out.

Even against champions elect Leicester, the Foxes were outplayed for the majority where they required an 87th-minute leveller to get out of jail.

Considering Rosler’s side have averaged exactly two goals per game at home in their last seven, backing another 2/3 more at 11/10 appears profitable, while a Wigan win (-1) also appeals at 31/20.
